New Features in Version 10.1.1
Listed below are new features since the last release. Links to directly-related topics are included.
- Archived report output
IBM® Cognos® Business Intelligence now provides the ability to archive saved report output to external repositories, such as IBM FileNet® Content Manager. This allows you to adhere to regulatory compliance requirements, and reduces the size of content in the content store. You can view archived content from IBM Cognos Connection and search archived content using indexed search. - SharePoint 2010 integration
IBM Cognos Business Intelligence has improved integration with SharePoint by simplifying the deployment of Cognos web parts. As well, with SharePoint 2010, you can publish Cognos reports to document libraries and attach discussion threads to Cognos content. - Support for WebSphere 7.0
WebSphere® 7.0 is supported in this release. - Restricting search
Administrators can now restrict search in the portal so that only index search using the Full text and all fields option is available to users. Restricting search avoids the risk of excessive demand on system resources which can result in system degradation. - Dashboards are now workspaces
In IBM Cognos Business Insight, the term dashboard is replaced by the term workspace to describe a web page that contains widgets that graphically represent business data. - Content IDs during deployment
Content ids are deleted by default during deployment, however, now when you run a deployment import, you can choose to retain content ids. Retaining content ids is important for certain functionality, for example, when archiving content to an external repository. - Support for running reports with report owner capabilities
Users can now run a report using specific capabilities granted to the owner of the report, even if they do not have these capabilities themselves. - Index search support for active reports
IBM Cognos Business Intelligence version 10.1.1 now supports active reports with indexed search. - Safari 5 support
This release of IBM Cognos Business Intelligence provides Safari 5 support for IBM Cognos Connection and IBM Cognos Viewer. - Secure the CAM passport cookie
Administrators can secure the CAM passport cookie by enabling the HTTPOnly attribute. This blocks scripts from reading or manipulating the CAM passport cookie during a user's session with their web browser. - Specify the JMX proxy server host
You can create a list of one or more dispatchers that are available to host the Java Management Extensions (JMX) proxy server. Once the list of dispatchers is created, the dispatcher that is at the top of the list and is currently running is the dispatcher that is chosen as the host. This helps reduce the number of threads required to collect JMX metrics and increases the number of threads that are available for content manager. - Internal postscript interface for printing on UNIX operating systems
The new advanced server property, RSVP.PRINT.POSTSCRIPT, allows you to control which interface you want to use to print a PDF from a UNIX operating system. Keeping the default setting, true, provides users with the ability to print PDFs using the internal postscript interface from a UNIX operating system. This removes the dependency for installing Adobe reader on UNIX operating systems.
