Limit the size of e-mail attachments

If you have performance issues related to the size of e-mail attachments, you can change the default settings for services to reduce size limit of e-mail attachments.

The maximum size of an uncompressed e-mail attachment in MB setting controls e-mail attachment behavior. The following table shows the behavior for each service. To allow any size of e-mail attachment, use a value of 0.

AgentService

Attachments that exceed the limit are not sent.

Default value: 15

BatchReportService

Attachments that exceed the limit are not sent.

Default value: 15

DeliveryService

Attachments that exceed the limit are compressed before sending.

Default value: 0

ReportService

Attachments that exceed the limit are not sent.

Default value: 15

Procedure

  1. Start IBM® Cognos® Connection.
  2. Click Launch, IBM Cognos Administration.
  3. On the Configuration tab, click Dispatcher and Services.
  4. Click the dispatcher you want.
  5. Click the set properties button of the service that you want to configure.
  6. Click the Settings tab.
  7. To filter the settings, in the Category box, click Tuning.
  8. Specify a value for the maximum size of an uncompressed e-mail attachment in MB setting.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click the Configuration link in the path at the top of the page.

    You return to the list of dispatchers.

  11. If you have more than one dispatcher configured, perform steps 4 to 10 for each remaining dispatcher.
  12. Using IBM Cognos Configuration, stop and then restart IBM Cognos software.
