Restricting access to interactive activities for users

When multitenancy is enabled, only the background activities are filtered by the tenant ID before they are displayed. The interactive activities are not filtered by the tenant ID and they might contain content from other tenants when they are displayed.

About this task

To avoid this risk, access to interactive activities must be restricted using the COGADMIN.restrictInteractiveActivitiesToSystemAdministrators advanced setting so that only system administrators can view all content.

Procedure

  1. Start IBM Cognos Administration.
  2. On the Configuration tab, click Dispatchers and Services.
  3. In the toolbar on the Configuration page, click the Set properties – Configuration icon Set properties – configuration.
  4. Click the Settings tab.
  5. Click Edit for the Advanced settings property.
  6. Enter the COGADMIN.restrictInteractiveActivitiesToSystemAdministrators setting and specify a value of true for this setting.

    Note that this value is case sensitive.

  7. Click OK.
  8. To apply the value, you might need to restart the IBM® Cognos® services.

Results

Only system administrators can now view interactive activities.
